Chipboard MDF
What is Chipboard?
Chipboard is a widely used engineered wood product made by compressing wood chips with resin. In Indian homes, it’s a common choice for modular furniture due to its affordability and lightweight nature. However, traditional chipboard panels have historically struggled with issues like splitting and poor screw-holding capacity.
That’s where our Fabwood raises the bar. Developed with innovative chip weave technology, Fabwood offers uniform density, a split-resistant core, and best-in-class performance. It’s tested for over 25,000 hinge operations with no degradation in strength, making it far more dependable than older chipboard variants.
Ideal for chipboard applications such as kitchen carcasses, wardrobes, and storage units, Fabwood is no longer just the economical choice; it’s the smart one.
What is MDF?
MDF (Medium-Density Fibreboard) is made by compressing fine wood fibres with resin under high pressure, resulting in a dense and smooth board. It’s often the preferred choice for projects requiring precision, such as intricate CNC routing, moulded furniture designs, and decorative panels. For these reasons, many still lean toward MDF plywood for visual perfection.
However, MDF has drawbacks. It’s heavier, harder on tools, and can swell when exposed to moisture. Its dense nature makes installation in modular setups more challenging. When comparing MDF board vs chipboard, MDF wins on smoothness, but chipboard panels, especially modern ones like Fabwood, offer an ultra-smooth calibrated surface of 0.1 mm for a consistent thickness
